Welcome to our family website.

This blog, which began as a therapeutic outlet during the wait for our daughter's arrival, morphed into a place to share feelings, ask for support, and flip through a virtual 'brag book' of photos. NOW, as we embark on our second adoption trek, please join us as we plan, pray, and travel again to the other side of the world to be united with the next piece of our family puzzle.

Peace & Blessings...Beth & Ron (and Hope too)

Have A Laugh At Our Expense

I just have a few moments to write here. I should probably be fixing some lunch for my little angel who just woke up from her nap. I haven't been blogging in a couple of weeks. Sorry everyone. I've been a bit under the weather and have had several trips in and out of the clinic. I'd rather not get into too much detail here, but I've got an appointment next week for some tests and another the following week with a GI specialist (thanks Laura). Hopefully we'll get everything figured out soon.

I have so much to share. Last weekend was wonderful as we traveled to Appleton for a family wedding. Jon (my cousin) and Denise are so happy and we had such a fantastic time celebrating with them. I'll hopefully have some time soon to share some more about them, the wedding, and add some additional pictures. Below are just a few shots from the weekend. The first two are from Saturday morning when we took a couple hours to find some geocaches in the area in attempt to wear out Miss Hope so she'd nap before the ceremony. Well, I'm pretty sure she was tired, but no nap before. She slept through the entire wedding though. She fell asleep on the way to the church. ;)

These next two are after the big nap and a snack before we made our way to the reception. She was such a good girl for the whole weekend. We are so proud of her!

Finally - Here is the story connected to the title of this post. Another mother started a thread on our group about cute stories and things are children are doing. I thought some people here might get a kick out of this one. This was my entry:

Here is one from our Hope portfolio...

So we've been flirting with the idea of using the potty around here for quite some time. Hope is pretty good about it (#1 anyway) if we're consistent about getting her up there regularly. Well, one
morning while I was home over spring break week with Hope, I guess I left her in her crib playing for too long. I could hear her on the monitor laughing/singing/playing with her aquarium, etc. She seemed content, but by the time I went in to get her up for the day here is what I found...

Hope standing in her crib in her P.J.'s. Normal, right? Nope. :) When I picked her up I quickly noticed that she no longer had a diaper on! That little squirt somehow squirmed out of her pajamas, took her diaper off, rolled it up and threw it on the floor. After further inspection I also found out that she'd proceeded to pee in the corner of her crib before getting herself dressed and zipped up again! Can you believe it? It is hard to be frustrated with her. She knew not to go in her diaper, I guess. :)

These little ones sure keep us running!

Have a great weekend everyone -

Beth

P.S. We are going out tonight for the first time without Hope since we've been home (10 1/2 months). Casting Crowns is performing in St. Paul tonight! Hope is staying with Aunt Tami and Uncle Brian. She'll be just fine. Wish mommy luck, though. ;)

What a great story!!! hehehe She's a smart one, that Hope Heutmaker!!

And I'm so glad you guys got out last night. I wish I could have been there. How did you do for the first time?? It's hard, isn't it?? We still find it hard, which is why we never go anywhere as a couple.

I'll keep you in my prayers that you'll be feeling better soon!!!

Love,
Melody
PS...You guys were great in church today. YEAH!!!

You were in Appleton and you didn't stop at my house? I'm hurt. :-) Yes we're going to Lifest, I have a full event ticket. I've gone every year for about the last 5 or 6 years (except last year, my mom's funeral was on the Friday of Lifest and I gave my ticket away). I can't wait!

Allison at 2 1/2 is just starting to show interest in the potty (actually she's obsessed about it, although she's never peed there). I'm impressed with Hope! Allison loves to take her clothes off, including her diaper. It's an ongoing battle. Sigh. (Yikes, as I type this she just took her clothes off and is saying "pah-ee"! Gotta go!!!)

I hope you feel better soon!

Love the pics of Hope in her wedding clothes!
